I've attached the flier. For those of you not familiar with alleycat races, they are designed around messenger racing. You often have several places that you have to stop throughout the race and either pick something up or do something like get a stamp from a bartender to prove you were there. They are fast paced and usually a lot of fun. Mark Rushing -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The pictures are of a few of the eight Marines who were participating in the Half IM, each with lower extremity amputations from injuries sustained while serving in Iraq. I felt their presence and willingness to participate in such an event was courageous and motivating. Their ability to participate was made possible through money raised by the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (www.semperfifund.org). I'm forwarding this to you because I found these guys to be inspiring, and puts my gripes about training in perspective. I thought you might like to share the pictures with others in the Triangle Triathlon Club. Thanks, Brad Bell -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... They were truly inspiring as it was clear they were dealing with just as much pain (if not more) as I was, yet still saying, "I can do this!" Here's to a race and a sport that is tough enough for the Marines to do! :) Please visit the SemperFiFund.org website and show these guys we are thankful and proud of them. The Kids in Training races are really a lot of fun, and Maylene does a great job of utilizing volunteers to make sure everyone has a good time and that the kids are safe. Even if you don't have kids, and don't want to actually volunteer, I recommend coming to cheer the kids on. It's an experience you won't want to miss.
