The southeast stakeholder meeting will be held January 28, 2009 in Durham, NC. The western stakeholder meeting will be held February 4, 2009 in San Francisco, CA. Additional meetings are planned for Iowa and Washington DC in March 2009. A later email will provide details for those meetings. Meeting locations and dates Southeastern United States RSB Stakeholder Consultation January 28, 2009, 8am ? 5pm Southern Growth Policies Board 100 Capitola Dr, Suite 100 Durham, NC 27713 Western United States RSB Stakeholder Consultation February 4, 2009, 12:30pm ? 6pm The Moscone Center 747 Howard St. San Francisco, CA 94103 Directions: http://www.moscone.com/directions/index.shtml Background Information In August 2008, the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) released the first draft of a unique Standard for sustainable biofuel production. This document ? called ?Version Zero?- is the result of an impressive work achieved by several hundreds of participants from 40 countries and all sectors, which have joined the RSB since April 2007, in order to debate and reach a consensus on a set of generic principles and criteria to be followed by biofuel producers in order for their production to remain genuinely sustainable. This ?Version Zero? includes 12 principles and criteria, which cover the environmental, social and economic issues related to biofuels, as revealed over the last years until now. Yet, this draft needs to be further improved and refined; the RSB has now entered into a period of public comment, and is organizing regional consultations throughout the world from January to March 2009 in order for all stakeholders to participate and share their valuable opinions. Are there aspects missing from the document? Is the phrasing correct? What is needed to correctly implement these principles and criteria? These are examples of questions that regional consultations will help the RSB to solve. Should you be interested in participating, please save the date and let us know by returning the RSVP form by FAX or email at your earliest convenience. It is important that you be familiar with Version Zero prior to the meeting. We look forward to meeting you in Raleigh and San Francisco! This website helps you plan any trip in the bay area on public transit: http://511.org/ There are three public, retail biodiesel filling stations within 20 miles of the city. All three of these stations are local, independent small businesses whose only fuel product is sustainable (recycled, local) B100. All three also have attached store spaces selling cool local, organic, fair trade, and other types of eco-friendly prodcuts. We hope that you will find time to visit all of them! Dogpatch Biofuels (San Francisco) : http://dogpatchbiofuels.com/ Biofuel Oasis (Berkeley) : http://www.biofueloasis.com/ Autopia Biofuels (San Mateo) : http://www.autopiabiofuels.com/ There is one company I know of that rents a few biodiesel cars, as well as high-MPG scooters, and Smart Cars, located in San Francisco not too far from downtown: http://alchemyrentals.com/ If anyone has further questions about San Francisco or how to get around here, you are welcome to email or call Michele or Robin at Dogpatch Biofuels-- we would be happy to try and help.
