IBG Monforts is the maker of the famous Komet press (http://www.oekotec.ibg-monforts.de/en/20.html) in Germany, and has over 50 years experience in oil extraction. Dirk will demonstration proper oil press usage, explain optimum conditions for oilseed pressing, explain the use of different types of feedstocks in oilseed presses and answer any questions that you may have in regards to the use of the Komet press. The half day workshop will take place on Sunday, October 25 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at Piedmont Biofuels Industrial in Pittsboro, North Carolina. There is no cost to attend this half-day workshop, though we do ask that you RSVP to matt at biofuels.coop by Friday, October 16 if you plan to attend as we will limit the number of participants to no more than 30. Additionally, the the following week (October 26-30) Piedmont Biofuels will be holding a 5-day intensive workshop on biodiesel production. It there anyway it can be reconstituted and if not, what can I do with it? I'd check it for acidity with a PHlip Test. The soap has probably dropped out at this point. This is how I check for soap: fill a mason jar 2/3 full with biodiesel and add 1/3 water shake it up really well and let it settle for 10-15 Min. If the water is clear there is no soap in the fuel. Another thing to worry about is algae. You probably want to treat the fuel with an algicide. I don't know how to test for algae. That's what I can think of ... hope this is helpful.
