From rudolfdiesel at netzero.net Tue Jul 1 22:30:07 2008 From: rudolfdiesel at netzero.net (rudolfdiesel at netzero.net) Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2008 02:30:07 GMT Subject: [Biofuels_Interest_Group] need Jeep Liberty CRD & TDI owners interested in advancing science and education Message-ID: <20080701.223007.2854.0@webmail07.dca.untd.com> Hi I am preparing to present information on the On Board Diagnostic Systems of late model Jeep CRD's and VW TDI's to the annual convention of the North American Council of Automotive Teachers at Penn College of Technology in two weeks. I need access to a Liberty (Preferably an 05) and a 02 or newer TDI for no more than an hour to plug my scanner into and download some diagnostic data and actual values from the Diesel Engine Control Unit. This will not affect or harm the vehicle in any way, (OBD connector is right under the Dash) and will provide me with some real world data processed in a conventional format to enhance my presentation. This will increase the knowledge of these systems to Diesel instructors, hence to students, from across the USA and Canada. I am willing to meet at a place of greatest convenience to you. Please let me know if you are interested in allowing me this brief access to your vehicle for this good cause. I would prefer to collect this data some time next week. This event will be held Sept 21, 22, 23rd, in Raleigh, NC, and will distinguish itself from other regional gatherings by beginning to address some of the cross-cutting concerns that might otherwise hinder development of biofuels, biopower, and bioproducts. Seeking the long-term health of these emerging renewable energy industries, the conference will prompt conversations about sustainable harvest, competition for feedstocks, and environmental considerations (water quality, water supply, air emissions, wildlife, etc.). Please see the attached "Save the Date" for information on this event. These companies are: */Anti-dumping proceeding/* *No Name of the Company/ Group of companies *1 Peter Cremer North America LP, Ohio 2 Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Company, Illinois 3 World Energy Alternatives LLC, Massachusetts 4 Imperium Renewables, Washington 5 Green Earth Fuels of Houston LLC, Texas */Anti-subsidy proceeding/* *No Name of the Company/ Group of companies *1 Peter Cremer North America LP, Ohio 2 Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Company, Illinois 3 World Energy Alternatives LLC, Massachusetts 4 Vinmar Overseas Ltd, Texas 5 Imperium Renewables, Washington In the EU letter to NBB (attached), which apparently has been sent to some NBB member companies, the European Commission (EC) notes that the selection is based on the volume of product exported during the period of time that is under investigation (4/1/07 through 3/31/08). According to the EC?s calculations, the five companies sampled represent 55% of total exports for the AD proceeding and 57% for the CVD proceeding. The EC also mentions that for the AD proceeding, it only selected producers of biodiesel. This may explain the difference with the list sampled for the CVD proceeding. The EC has requested comments on the companies selected for both the AD and CVD cases. Should you have any comments about those selected or would like to add your company?s name to those selected, please share these comments with me no later than 12:00 PM EST on Wednesday, July 30^th . The EC?s deadline for comments is July 31, 2008. The EC has also started sending companies that previously signalled their willingness to cooperate in the investigation updated versions of the full AD and CVD questionnaires. The EC is apparently doing this to give all companies who are not in the sample listed above the opportunity to obtain on a voluntary basis their own AD and CVD rates. That being said, it is again important to note that the EC is under no obligation to take this data into account. We will continue to keep NBB members apprised of events in this case as events warrant. In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance. Mobile fuel cell technology is full of pitfalls, extremely costly and a taking our attention away from more intelligent solutions. Fuel cell technology is brilliant as a stationery, supplemental energy source (say in combination with wind), but crazy stupid as a system stuffed in a car, requiring massive infrastructure investments and leading to worse greenhouse emissions. My two cents. Hopefully Rich will set them straight.
